The Meemaker is a new installation designed to move art practices outside. How? By building a temporary studio on the street. The Meemaker: a cargo bike that has been transformed into a movable atelier, intended to create an accessible way to include all of what is happening on a site specific location into the creation of an artwork. The atelier appears in front of doorsteps, in parks and on street corners, where an artist, me in this case, can get connected with the space users. In this way, I give myself a place in a neighborhood where I do not live, becoming a flexible, temporary neighbor. In this ongoing research I already discovered: if I return more often and build more relationships, more and more moments of exchange, co-creation, and making together begin to emerge into my creative process.
